How do you make empty Google Reader posts?
I’m not sure how to respond to your comment, it has made me think though.
I don’t think my Google Reader posts are “empty”, I think of them as a type of links posting that most bloggers do, I just import the links in mine directly from Google Reader rather than put the posting together in the WP admin area.
As for the mechanics of how I do it, I use a nice little plugin called Shared Items Post that automatically grabs all of the items I have “shared” and commented on in Google Reader and turns them into postings. You can check out the plugin here (I’m not affiliated with it or the creator in any way):

I know that the Google Reader posts tend to almost take over my front page a lot of the time. Ideally, if I had more time to post interesting stories of my own it would be a more even balance, but since my time is limited, the Google Reader posts are a great way for me to keep current on the things I care about AND share some of the most interesting things I come across with others.
Agree on the FTC issue. Totally.
