This blog chronicles the ongoing leap of being a webpreneur. I decided to call it O`Bannon’s Leap after a tale of 2 Bannon brothers in Ireland who also wished to build something from nothing (more about them down below).
Here you’ll find information (gained from actual experience) and resources that hopefully will assist or better prepare you in your online money making ventures.

If you’ve taken the time to read what I have to say and add your own input I appreciate that and encourage other readers to follow your comment links as I will to see what else you have to say and offer. However, I do closely monitor comments (so that I can check out the sites of those who participate here on my blog), and do kill spammy crap fast.

Advertising Disclosure for The Leap Blog
This is a sore spot for me because I just don’t think its necessary to disclose that some products/services/web sites offer commissions for referrals. The reason I don’t think its necessary is because I would only refer people to something if its related to what I’m talking about and I honestly believe it’ll be of value to them.
I’m like that because I value myself, my business and the collective personal and professional reputation I’ve worked a long time to establish.
That said, I almost feel as though I’m being insulted and having my integrity questioned by the numerous bloggers and others out there who demand disclosure policies on blogs. Seriously, if you don’t trust a resource someone refers you to on their blog, don’t use it or make a purchase there. But if you do use it and gain something by doing so is it really an issue that they may have been compensated for helping you out? The way I see it that encourages them to continue being informative and helpful in the future–which is also likely to be of benefit to you as well.
However, I don’t want any readers to ever feel I’m being misleading or non-transparent about anything here, so in the interest of transparency some links found on this blog may be to web sites, products or services that I either have a financial stake in, or receive some financial compensation in the form of commissions from.
Those Bannon brothers from Ireland
In the late 14th or early 15th century the two Bannon brothers each wanted to build a large castle in a rocky, hilly region of Offaly, near Roscrea, in County Tipperary. They both decided on the same rock land to build from, and being competitive, Irish brothers they simply couldn’t work together on the project.
As legend tells it, the two decided that they would both leap from the rock’s edge that the castle was to be built on to resolve the issue. One survived and built the castle which still stands today. Leap Castle–named from the legend–is one of the more famous castles in Ireland and often called “the most haunted castle in Europe.”
More information on the O`Bannon Clan and this legend can be found here.
Me and The Leap Blog
Seeing a symbolic link between the determination of those Bannon brothers and my own to build something from nothing I thought that O`Bannon’s Leap was the perfect title for this site.
While this blog was a fairly new idea that spawned by interest in how I make my living from friends and family, my experience with online business begins back in 1995 with the very first dollar I earned on the web.
At that time I focused primarily on affiliate marketing and web site construction for local small businesses in my area. It was a nice supplemental income to my regular day job back then and I was able to slowly expand and grow what I was doing as online consumer activity grew to the point that in 2001 I was able to leave the day job and make my little side business my life’s work.
You won’t find any “get rich quick” or “hidden secrets exposed” information here. The only secret to what success I’ve had is hard work. However, what I hope I can provide is a few hints and tips I’ve accumulated with experience that will help you to avoid some of the pitfalls and mistakes that are often made by new webpreneurs, and some helpful insights for mapping your own path to success.
Why would I be willing to share this information? Don’t most people who make money keep their knowledge to themselves–or write fluffy eBooks to sell and make more money from? Okay, I actually have written an eBook myself, but you don’t have to buy it and you’ll find far more knowledge for free by subscribing to the RSS newsfeed of this blog than that lone eBook contains.
The truth is there are no big revelations that will (or could) be made here. As I’ve already said, hard work is what success really comes down to. Most of what I can share is common sense, but often overlooked by those just starting out. Probably because we get so eager and enthusiastic when starting a new project that its easy to forget to focus on the tiny details. Think of this blog as a reminder-pad, and I bet after reading a few posts you’ll likely be thinking “well that’s obvious, so why haven’t I been doing it?”
Another motivating factor for me here is that I welcome competition in business. It prevents me from becoming complacent and lackadaisical (it keeps me on my toes). I also welcome more success stories of webpreneurs, its the ultimate freedom and I’m a big fan of freedom.
