Hey Developers

If you’ve got some basic developing skills and are a fan of WordPress here’s a great idea for a FireFox extension that I think would be popular–and I know would be useful to bloggers.

Yahoo! is rolling out it’s Glue application in the U.S. right now, which allows you to create a massive mashup page on a topic. Here’s an example of a Glue page for “government”:

Government on Glue

Government on Glue

That’s a great resource to have on hand if I were writing a blog post about the government, or as a regular blogger on a political blog.

So I’m thinking that it would be great to have a browser extension add-on that would integrate with the WordPress post writing page (and maybe other blogging platforms too I suppose) so that while I was writing a blog post if I wanted to call up a Glue page on the topic for content research I could do it without having to leave the writing/editing page of my blog.

Browser extensions like Zemanta and Kaalga already integrate with blog platforms like this, they just perform a different function from displaying a Glue page, so I’m sure it could be done.

I can really see this being useful and popular with bloggers, so it would be a great way to generate a little buzz for yourself as a developer or free promotion for your web site once you make it available.

So come on, I know there are developers who frequent my blog now and then, take my idea and make it happen!
